Mousuni Island is treated as one of the completely unexplored islands of South Bengal. Sunderbans is its neighboring region and the island is less populated as well as fully free of environmental pollution. Spending a night at Mousuni Island would be enough to rejuvenate you completely.

Mousuni Island itself is too beautiful to be explored. Its main island is an adobe of serenity and peace. The island is extended to Baliara beach where you would love to enjoy a long walk through the white sands. Jambu dip is seen from Baliara beach and it can be reached from this island only by some pre-arranged means of transport. Only means of transport in this island is a van.

Day 1

An exciting night at Mousuni

It is recommended to put your step into the Mousuni Island before sunset as the means of transport may not be available after 5pm. At my arrival at Mousuni Island, I was heartily welcomed by the tent organizers and all the arrangements were done by them on prior booking. After taking a cool shower followed by some rest, I went out to explore the surrounding area. That evening was spent in front of the tent by chitchatting with the local dwellers, enjoying local snacks along with a cup of tea. Bonfire accompanied by barbeque was also arranged in the tent premises on prior request. A delicious village style Bengali dinner led me to a peaceful sleep in well-decked tents.

Day 2

Capturing beauty of Mousuni Island

My day in Mousuni Island was started with the early morning breeze of the sea. A morning walk at the sea shore let me feel more refreshed. After breakfast, I hired a local van to stroll around the beach and adjacent places. In the white clean sand of Baliara beach you may create some beautiful memories just by sitting along the sea shore to see the tides slapping the banks or to observe beauty of the sky kissing the horizon. While roaming around the beach I came across variety of birds such as woodpecker, cormorant, drongo, sunbird, white breasted kingfisher and uncountable green-bee-eaters. After spending quality hours in Baliara I headed to Kakra-mari beach which houses the only boat making factory and here you would be able to know about the boat making activities and relevant information. In the adjacent villages of Mousuni Island, I was lucky to find original Khejur Rosh along with Tari (liquor) which are prepared by the local dwellers. This way my tour around Mousuni Island was completed by having an organic sumptuous lunch in one of the rural households. After lunch, I availed the ferry service to reach at Dwash mile bus stand from where I got a shared car to reach at Hatania-Doania River. Crossing the river I reached at Namkhana from where I got respective train towards Kolkata. You may opt for your suitable way or vehicle to reach at your destination directly from Mousuni Island. Due to bumpy long road journey you may feel exhausted but the scenic beauty of the Mousuni Island will definitely make your trip worthy.
