Itineraries

Day 1

Drive to Bara Mangwa

Pick up from Njp and reach Bara Mangwa Via teesta Bazar. Accept the warm greetings from Monika Ghising , the host of Bara Mangwa. Her property is the only one of its kind in the whole Darjeeling Rural Circuit, beautifully built amidst the largest Orange orchard of whole Darjeeling District. Once you reach, spend your evening taking a walk on trails running through this beautiful Orange Orchard that decorates the sloping landscapes like the glittering bulbs hanging through the Christmas trees. There is also a processing centre nearby, where you can taste the locally produced Jams, Jellies, marmalades, squash and juices, all from the locally grown fruits and vegetables. If you are courageous enough and are not claustrophobic, then taking a walk to the nearby bat cave also can be more adventurous. In the evening after the darkness embraces the beautiful orchard making it glow with the orange bulbs, enjoy the moonwalk through the garden, this experience is more like romance with nature. Later share your greetings along with delicious dinner cooked by the lovely Ghising Family.

Day 2

Nearby locations

Morning at Bara Mangwa can be made more beautiful visiting the neighboring garden of Gurung Family. This Garden is more like the Garden from Alice in Wonderland. The beautiful small houses, bridges, streams, tree houses all will take you back to you childhood days. This trip can also be more educating because there are so many flowers, fruits, and vegetation all grown organically by the Gurung Family. The Family host’s recitation on the methods of agriculture will help you learn more about agriculture methods.Takdah After the breakfast, now you can go out for sightseeing taking the car. Take the route towards Takdah Cantonment, and relive the colonial era of British Empire. Takdah was once the cantonment area for the British Army officials, when they first established Darjeeling as their Summer capital, You can still see the remains of the Army Barracks. The heritage luxurious bungalows now stand as homestays owned by the locals. Though long time has passed, the luxury and class of the superiority can still be seen in the Bungalows. Tinchuley and Lamahatta: This small rural Village is in between Takdah Cantonment and Peshok Tea Garden. The mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga through the greenery of rural vegetation is what makes this place special. While crossing this place and before you reach the Peshok road, there is a beautiful and renowned view of the road that looks like a snake crawling through the tea garden. You can also visit Lamahatta on the way, which is a wayside destination with a beautiful Park. Triveni: The last place for the day will be Triveni – The confluence of Teesta and Rangeet. This point is also locally known as lovers point, because of the union of two rivers Teesta , the girl and Rangeet, the boy. This spot is also one of the best fishing spots of Darjeeling renowned for gaming – The Himalayan Mah-sheer. Spent you evening with golden sunrays shining over the sand of Teesta and Rangeet. In the evening enjoy the bonfire with the host family and enjoy your best to make it one of your best memories of Bara Mangwa Stay.
