Talasari Beach is a small beach town which comes under Balasore district of Odisha. This beach town is at an around 8-9km distance from Bengal’s popular tourist destination Digha. Although Talasari beach is closest to the bustling beach of Digha, this beach town is yet to be explored. This less polluted clean beach will give you an opportunity to spend a peaceful cozy night with your loved ones.

Whenever you are at Talasari, the following destinations must be included in your list of ‘must-to-visit’ places:

  • Main beach of Talasari,
  • Local surrounding area, and
  • Nearby Chandaneswar temple.

All the destinations are easily accessible by local public transport or private cars.

  • A cycle rickshaw took me to Talasari beach from the main beach of Digha within 35-40 minutes. From Balasore district, the beach is at a distance of around 88km. New Digha railway station is nearest to the Talasari beach. If you are traveling by train then you have to take a 15 minutes’ drive from New Digha Railway station to reach Talasari beach. Regular AC/Non AC buses for Digha are daily available from Dharmatala bus terminus (Kolkata). After reaching Digha by bus I hired a private car to reach my destination.
  • Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has its own Panthasala at a walking distance from the Talasari beach. I ringed them in advance to get a luxurious accommodation here. Besides, there are Hotel Shree Inn and Hotel Sagar Saikat where comfortable rooms are available at a reasonable price. Few eateries are there where you would be able to relish delicious fish items in authentic Bengali/Oriya style. There are plenty of fishing ports in the sea beach where fresh sea fishes and crabs are sold in the form customized dishes.

Day 1

Introducing myself with Talasari

I started my journey from Kolkata at early morning so I could arrive at Talasari beach by late afternoon. After taking some rest in my neatly arranged hotel room, I went out for an evening walk on the beach. My leisure walk was accompanied by the cool breeze, roaring sea waves, crunchy snacks and a cup of piping hot tea. At night, a sound sleep awaited me following a finger-licking seafood dinner.

Day 2

Relaxation at Talasari beach

At early morning of my holiday at Talasari beach, I started my morning enjoying a cup of coffee along with some freshly plucked cashew nuts (grown in nearby field) at the sea view balcony of my hotel. Then I opted for a long walk along the river that passes through the beach. Main attraction of Talasari beach is its delta where a few rivers have merged with the Bay of Bengal. Twice a day, the river is converted to a dry land and it is refilled with a high tide. Boating in this river was an add-on pleasure of this trip. The calm sea water and clean beach of Talasari is ideal for enjoying a bath in the sea. In its newly developed fishing port I witnessed daily fishing activities. After spending relaxing hours in Talasari beach I paid a visit to Chandaneswar temple which is at a distance of only 3 km from the main beach. The peaceful atmosphere and eye-catching architecture of this temple mesmerized me at my first glance. My full-day roam around the Talasari beach was completed by relishing a mouth-watering seafood dominating lunch at the local eateries along with warm hospitality of the natives. In the late afternoon I boarded on a buses heading towards Kolkata from New Digha bus stand. The hotel authority booked a cab for me and it dropped me to New Digha. You can also pre-book a car to reach Kolkata directly from Talasari. A relaxing day at the calm sea beach of Talasari will definitely be added as a memorable feather to my rejuvenating holiday trip.
