Tajpur sea beach is an ideal destination for witnessing a graceful night at sea beach. Tajpur is a yet-to-be-explored beach town in West Bengal. At the east coast of Digha, this virgin sea beach has been developed just between Mandarmani beach and Digha town. The unique beauty of Tajpur is enlightened with a dense forest of Casuarinas. The sequestered sandy beach along with its calmness, vastness, freshness and aura would definitely make you spellbound whenever you are going to pay a visit here.

To avoid the crowd of Digha main beach, I was searching for a nearby silent beach where I could spend a weekend peacefully. My search for such offbeat sea beach ended into Tajpur sea beach that is at a distance of only 17 km from Digha main beach. Inverted crescent-shaped beach of Tajpur soothed my eyes with the panoramic view of the sea kissing the horizon. The crimson red appearance of this beach is complemented by a dense green forest at its surrounding. Nature camps and Adventure sports of Tajpur keeps you rejuvenated and refreshed.

  • I pre-booked my ticket of Kandari express that departs from Howrah station at 7:50 am and reaches at Digha at around 12 pm. On the scheduled date, I boarded on Kandari express and arrived at Digha at 12:30 pm. From Digha station, I took a bus towards Balisai (between Contai and Digha). At Balisai bus stand I took pickup facility of my pre-booked hotel and within an hour I finally put my steps into Tajpur.
  • Tamralipta, Paharia, and Duronto express trains also run between Howrah (Kolkata) and Digha. Daily AC and Non AC buses are also available to reach Digha from Esplanade bus terminus (Kolkata). From Digha railway station as well as bus stand, you will get frequent connecting vehicles to reach Tajpur. By road, Tajpur is 180 km away from Kolkata and you have to follow NH-16, NH-116, and Kanthi-Digha road (passing by Kolaghat) to reach your destination. The nearest airport of Tajpur is Netaji Subhas International Airport (Dum Dum). So if you are ready for your trip, it will not be so difficult to find your convenient route.
  • On my arrival at Tajpur Nature camp, I was warmly greeted by its friendly staffs and a refreshing welcome drink was served to me at my pre-arranged ethnically decorated cottage. This nature camp is one of the best accommodations in Tajpur although there are plenty of beachfront resorts where you can spend a happy holiday. Cottages of this resort were well decked with all necessary modern facilities and its surrounding was beautified with vast gardens, seating arrangements, and a pool. After taking a shower, I rushed to its dining hall to relish the yummy seafood dominated lunch thali that was freshly prepared in homemade style. Then spend some time with cool sea breeze at my window pane, I went to the beach to capture the majestic beauty of the sunset. I opted for an idle stroll around the clean white beach while having a bite on the crispy fries of the freshly caught sea fishes (from the fish stalls of beach area). At late evening I returned back to the resort to take part in the camping, bonfire and other recreational activities arranged by the authorities.

Day 1

Exploring Tajpur

Roaring sea waves and bight sunrays woke me up early in the morning so I could not resist myself to enjoy a blissful long beach walk in Tajpur sea beach. After coming back to the resort, I was quickly recharged by a hot cup of coffee along with a healthy breakfast. Then I rushed to the beach again to have some fun by taking part in the various adventure sports, offered by the beach authority at minimal cost. I enjoyed sea rafting, paragliding and coastal biking. If you are tripping in group, you may also enjoy beach football and volleyball with your mates here. Then I headed towards “Mohona” where I reached by a short boat ride. I was enchanted by the scenic beauty of the “Mohona” where the rivulets have emerged with the vast sea. My next destination was “Jaldakhati” – the fishermen’s village where I came across numerous fishermen who were busy in preparation of their boats and nets before leaving to catch fishes in afternoon. On my way back to main beach I ran after the uncountable red crabs which are the local residents of Tajpur sea beach and it is really cheerful to watch them playing hide and seek. I took a bath in the clean cool water of the sea and finally came back to the resort.Completing another mouth-watering seafood lunch, I packed my back and bid a good bye to Tajpur sea beach. Resort’s cab dropped me to Balisai bus stand where I got a bus towards Digha. At Digha bus stand I boarded on a bus heading Kolkata and reached my home at late evening. I have not many words in my stock to thank Tajpur for giving me a bunch of beautiful memories and rejuvenating me with its serenity and elegance.
